The Longest River in Indonesia


Dear my lovely friends and visitors, 

In this posting I would like to tell you about The Longest River in Indonesia namely "Kapuas River". As a Pontianak society, the name Kapuas river is not strange anymore to you. Many of you must be well-known about this river. This river is so long accross the city. Ok guys let's have a look.
Kapuas River lies in West Kalimantan. This river is the longest river in Indonesia with a total length of 1143 km. This river is home of over 300 species of fish.
     These days the river is heavily polluted, due to gold mining activities in this river. Although the Kapuas River has suffered pollution, the river remains the lifeblood for communities along this river. As a  cheap transportation, Kapuas River can connect one area to another area in West Kalimantan. And besides it is also a source of livelihood to additional the family income by becoming a fish catcher. Socio-cultural of the society in Kapuas river need further research to be done considering the rapid advances in technology and information that can influence public thinking around the flow of Kapuas river .The name of the Kapuas River is also lies in Central Kalimantan, precisely in Kapuas regency. It stretches along the river approximately 600 km, from the Sub-District of Kapuas Hulu to the Sub-District of Selat. Let's have a look for the river below.
